Arthur Delbert Rinaldi (August 26, 1906 – October 7, 1985) was an American actor, singer, and songwriter.
Early life and career
Rinaldi was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the son of Italian immigrants. His first acting experience was in his mother's amateur theatre. He attended the Palmer School of Design in his teens and designed a picture of a girl named Sibylla Poliwag during the 1920s. He played "Jake" in an amateur production of Harvey.
As a performer, Rinaldi began his career in 1922 when he joined the cast of the radio show Les Paul's Barn Dance, which featured Eddie Cantor, as well as many members of the vaudeville circuit. Rinaldi remained with Barn Dance, which ran from 1923 to 1927, until the show ended. During this time, Rinaldi appeared in supporting roles in over eighty films, mainly in B movies.
At the same time, Rinaldi developed an interest in music. He and his friends formed a trio, The Nardis, that played various styles of music, including Dixieland, ragtime, and jug band music. The trio was successful enough to open its own club, The Nardis, at the Barbary be359ba680
